These included new roofs, gutters and siding throughout, balustrades and cornice restoration, along with substantial window restoration and replacements. Major exterior improvements were carefully coordinated with the Landmarks Preservation Commission. Major infrastructure improvements were seamlessly introduced throughout the building's four stories as the primary residence and small ground floor guest unit were fully updated.Īn existing street facing sunroom was completely rebuilt from its foundations and the large scaled side porch and facade were fully reconfigured to properly address a new in-ground pool that was integrated with the home's landscaping. A new library, an expanded kitchen, and multiple bathrooms were gut renovated, resulting in carefully crafted family spaces. Updated interiors by Workstead, were meticulously integrated with the revised open layout, as these merged with portions of the original plans. We were tasked with the careful redesign and renovation of this elegant two-family residence in Brooklyn's South Prospect Park Historic District. The Colonial Revival-style home was originally designed by architects Bryson and Pratt in 1905, but prior owners had left the home in considerable disrepair. The new owner desired a home that respected the building's historic character while also meeting today's technological expectations. Other works by architect: Bryson (Slee & Bryson) Albemarle-Kenmore Terrace houses, Flatbush, other houses in PPS, PS, CHN, CHS, and PLG.
